Sunny continued to speak on behalf of the rest of the girl group, "I think it will be fun for the fans to find out what we've been up to so far and think about what we have prepared for them in the days to come." Girls' Generation will release ' Forever 1' as eight members for the first time in five years and now they have already started talking about what they have in store for their fans in the near future. In particular, talking about the album Sunny said, "The song 'Forever 1' starts with us shouting 'Forever One' which contains an eternal promise for us to our fans." For the last five years, Sones, fans of the second-gen girl group SNSD aka Girls' Generation have been waiting to be able to see the eight members come back together. Be it releasing solo albums or participating in survival shows or be it rebranding themselves as the top actresses in the country, each member of SNSD has been booked and busy so much that they could not make time for a group release. Due to personal reasons, a few members of SNSD decided to sign new contracts with different labels and the girl group went on an indefinite hiatus.

Everything You'd Ever Want to Know About Girls' Generation (Cosmopolitan.com)

Everything you need to know about the members of Girls' Generation: Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun.

(Remember this iconic pre-show moment?) In recent years, she’s opted to solely focus on her acting career. After peacefully departing the group’s label in 2017, Girls’ Generation’s youngest participant and lead vocalist Seohyun has found success in her extensive film, television, and theater roles. In present-day K-pop, Hyo has already kicked off 2022 as a fellow GOT the beat member and added multiple hits like “Deep” to her repertoire, so we’re eager to see how she combines her newfound edgier side with Girls’ Generation for this return. As the main rapper, main dancer, and sub-vocalist of Girls’ Generation, Hyo often brings a precision to the group’s more assertive tracks, starting with the 2011 song “The Boys,” and the ambitiously produced single “I Got A Boy” in 2012. Break out your pink SNSD light-sticks and brush up on your “Into the New World” choreo, because Girls’ Generation, (the most influential K-pop girl group of all time), is back. But honestly, the last thing Taeyeon would ever need is a warm-up anyways…

Fifteen years as a group is something that cannot be maintained just for the sake of business. From the rehearsals to all the food that we ate then; I can remember (it all) clearly.” Just like the title of the band’s first single, “Into the New World,” Girls’ Generation opened up a new era in the K-pop scene with their debut on Aug. 5, 2007. During their hiatus from group activities, the eight bandmates have strived to set down their own roots as musicians and actors -- and have now returned together on a stable ground. Starting their careers together as K-pop musicians in their early teenage years, the girls are now all women in their thirties with established careers of their own. I also become nostalgic in hearing past music, and I hope Girls’ Generation can also become such musicians to people,” Yoona said. We didn’t realize what kind of significance that song would carry back in 2007, and just worked hard to perform it energetically. Leader Taeyeon collects the statue — it’s suspiciously shaped like the official Girls’ Generation fan club, SONE’s, heart logo — and the members burst into dance. In the intervening years between releases, members Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun have spent time recording albums, acting, modeling, and just being famous — as captured in the glamorous music video which sees the eight-piece galavanting in private jets and performing together atop gilded parade floats and cruise ships. The joyful single is off their seventh Korean-language studio album of the same name, out August 5.

When they sing, “We're forever,” over the title track's sparkly hook, you actually believe it.

Forever 1 the album, on the other hand, appears to be simultaneously an expansion of the Girls’ Generation journey and retrospective look back at their legacy. It’s a warm and reassuring message to send to fans for any girl or boy group but seems to ring especially authentic and true coming from Girls’ Generation. When they sing, “We’re forever,” over the song’s sparkly hook, you genuinely believe it. For many Sones — the name of their fans — its release is a moment that’s been long-awaited, but not without a slight curiosity to see how the group now fares in the current, cultural K-pop context.

Girls' Generation's "Forever 1" 15th-anniversary comeback proves why the K-pop icons are breaking Korean-music industry norms together.
