Across its first 10 days of release Purple Hearts has been streamed 150.82 million hours, a staggering number of a film of its size. Here's where things get interesting with regard to Purple Hearts viewership, it could very well make an appearance on Netflix's Top 10 Movies of All-Time. Though not an exact science, there is a bit of a formula for figuring out what the total metrics will be for a Netflix release. Typically Netflix films have a week-to-week growth in the single digits or the low teens, with some falling as much as 60% or growing as high as 30%; like theatrically released films they tend to be front loaded with a sizable portion of viewership in the first 7 to 10 days. As noted above though, week two shot up and was streamed over 100 million hours, marking week-to-week growth of 112.7% and over 54 million hours total, seemingly the biggest jump ever on Netflix. We combed through every available week of metrics on Netflix's Top 10 website (which only goes back as far as last July) and saw no other film with that much growth week-to-week, either percentage wise or total hours. The politically-themed feature, which puts a modern Left vs Right spin on the Marriage of Convenience trope, had the biggest single week for a movie on Netflix for all of 2022. It's Tuesday, so that means a new batch of data from Netflix about what subscribers are watching has been released; and a surprising new movie, the romance film Purple Hearts, appears to have broken multiple records.

Cumulatively, The Gray Man -- which premiered July 23 -- captured 223.9 million streaming hours in its first 15 days on Netflix, ranking it No. 6 all time among Netflix movies. (The Gray Man finished No. 2 among English-language films on Netflix last week, slipping to 38.9 million viewing hours.) No film has had a better week on Netflix this year, English or local language. But Purple Hearts had a bigger first full week on platform than the Russo Bros.-directed Gray Man, which topped out at 96.5 million viewing hours for the week of July 25-31. The Gray Man actually had a bigger opening, generating nearly 88.6 million viewing hours in its first three days on Netflix vs.

Netflix's new film 'Purple Hearts' catapulted straight into its number one most-watched spot within days of its release—and you can probably guess why.

The first week of August also saw continued success for Russos' action feature, which was No. 2 on the Top 10 English films list.

On the non-English TV side, fan-favorite South Korean drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” came in No. 1 with roughly 67 million hours viewed in its fifth week on the list. On the film side, “The Gray Man” notched an additional 38.9 million viewing hours in its third week. Other notable entries included “Keep Breathing,” the survival limited series starring Melissa Barrera, which drew in 54.73 million viewing hours in its second week on the Top 10.
