He gets the ball in traffic inside the Leicester box and lofts a beautiful chip which nestles into the far corner. 41st min.: Jesus denied a hat trick again! A dose of Bukayo Saka, Jesus, and Martinelli is not the easiest way for the Foxes to get over their disappointing season-opening draw last weekend at home against Brentford, when they coughed up a 2-0 lead by conceding two goals in the span of the final half-hour.

In a similar vein, last season, Arsenal rescued the joint-fewest points from losing positions in the Premier League. The Gunners need to score first and maintain whatever early dominance they are able to establish. Mikel Arteta will be without Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson. Vieira has recovered from the foot injury that kept him out of preseason and is back in training but isn’t ready for matchday duties. You’ll recall that last season in the first meeting between the sides, Aaron Ramsdale made one of the Premier League saves of the season on a Maddison free kick. They scored from a corner against Crystal Palace in the opener. He’s scored the third most Premier League goals against Arsenal of any player, behind Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney. He missed out against the Gunners last spring due to injury and hasn’t scored in his last two appearances against Mikel Arteta’s side. Leicester have kept just one clean sheet in their last 26 away games, per Orbinho and have managed only one win away to Arsenal in their last 25 attempts.

Arsenal 4 - 2 Leicester City - Match Report (Arsenal.com)

We beat Leicester 4-2 at the Emirates after goals from Martinelli, Xhaka and a first half brace from Jesus led us to victory.

Gabriel Jesus became the first player to score more than once on his home Premier League debut for us. I have a lot of freedom from the coach, from my teammates. The way they reacted was something I’ve never seen in football; the amount of support and connection they are showing with us, and especially with William, lifted the team straight away. However, once again we showed excellent courage to go back down the other end and restore the two-goal cushion. That piece of champagne football came just before the first scheduled water break which briefly slowed down proceedings, but 10 minutes before half-time Jesus doubled his tally with a much more routine finish than his first. Perhaps due to the conditions chances were initially at a premium, but we gradually began to dictate proceedings.

Granit Xhaka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Jesus contributed to the goals on a day when Mikel Arteta will take the good along with the defensive wobbles, especially ...

His opener was a thing of beauty and if this is a sign that Jesus can now perform at least to the level of his expected goals, it's a scary sight. From pretty finishes to gritty pressures in the box and everything in between, his play can transform an Arsenal side that needs to get back into Champions League. This is the killer instinct that Arsenal has lacked and why they tumbled out of Champions League contention last season, but with Jesus atop the line, if he can maintain this form, they should be able to mount a sustained challenge for top four. Pressuring Ward, Jesus forced the Foxes into a mistake before giving Granit Xhaka one of the easiest goals that he'll ever score. But against a Leicester team that tried to attack Arsenal, Jesus was able to take the game to them. Times are changing a the top of the Arsenal attack.

Arsenal stroll as Gabriel Jesus 10/10 leads win over Leicester (ESPN)

Arsenal's new striker Gabriel Jesus scored two and assisted two in the 4-2 win over Leicester to keep up their perfect start to the season.

MF Martin Odegaard, 6 -- Odegaard was one of Arsenal's quieter midfield star as Arteta's side favoured attacking down the left channel, but the Norway international was astute in possession and looked to transition the play progressively. FW Bukayo Saka, 7 -- Saka worked hard at both ends of the pitch, with the England international ensuring that White had some defensive cover. The Brazil international was unplayable on the day, playing a direct involvement in all four goals as he also laid on two assists. MF Granit Xhaka, 7 -- He made a number of instinctive runs and eventually got on the scoresheet after Ward's error. Leicester didn't have an answer for Arteta's press, and that allowed the Gunners to recover possession on a consistent basis. 8 -- Arteta made his intentions clear from kick-off with an attacking setup that Leicester struggled to deal with.

That lifted the confidence of William and how he played the last minutes after that and the team as well. At 2-1, we were in a good place in the game and at 3-2 with 15 minutes to go, we had good momentum. Vards flicks it on and he scores at the back post. On Saliba: "What the crowd did with Saliba after the own goal was something in my career I haven't seen. He's so mobile, intuitive, sharp and proactive in any moment or phase of the game." We had some really good moments but in key moments we made mistakes. And then James Maddison's drive (74) was followed within 60 seconds by Gabriel Martinelli's second of the season. "He scored two and set up two and he's disappointed because he says he could have scored four. He's a real threat." First, an own goal from the otherwise impressive William Saliba (53) was countered two minutes later by an equally bad blunder from Leicester 'keeper Danny Ward, which allowed Jesus to tee up Granit Xhaka to sweep in. He's so mobile, intuitive, sharp and proactive in any moment or phase of the game. Vardy had a penalty award rightly taken away after VAR Mike Dean advised referee Darren England to re-assess the minimal contact between Ramsdale and the striker just before half-time.
