KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 — A total of 874 candidates scored a perfect 4.0 in cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia ...

He also announced the list of the best candidates in the STPM 2021 examination, including the candidates with special needs and the Orang Asli category, who will receive plaques and certificates from MPM in recognition of their efforts to achieve excellent results. He said that a total of 42,369 candidates registered to sit the STPM 2021 examination, with the attendance of 40,926 candidates. “The percentage of STPM 2021 candidates who obtained a full pass in five and four subjects compared with STPM 2020 has increased by 0.73 per cent, from 72.97 in 2020 to 73.70 per cent in 2021. Meanwhile, Mohd Ekhwan said that the number of candidates who got 5A and 4A in the STPM 2021 examination also recorded an increase, with 36 candidates obtaining 5A, compared with 23 in the previous year, while 860 candidates scored 4A, compared with 744 in STPM 2020. “Based on a comparison of the overall CGPA between urban and rural candidates since 2013, it was found that this is the first time there is no difference in achievement between urban and rural candidates; both obtained a CGPA of 2.79 in STPM 2021,” he said when announcing the examination results of STPM 2021 here today. He said that overall, the national CGPA for the 2021 exam has increased by 0.01 points to 2.79, from 2.78 recorded in 2020.

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A total of 82 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2021 candidates from Penang scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0.

He said a total of 11 schools in Penang achieved 100% results where all their students were eligible for STPM certificates. He said a total of 2049 candidates sat for STPM in 2021 with 2048 of them being eligible for certificates. "The average CGPA for Penang candidates in STPM 2021 is 2.85,"he said during the announcement of the STPM 2021 results at SMJK Jit Sin on Thursday ( Aug 18).

He added that in total, 5,532 school candidates or 98.42 per cent successfully obtained the STPM certificate in 2021 compared to 5,454 candidates (98.23 per cent) in 2020. “Of the 5,769 candidates, 5,745 (99.58 per cent) were school candidates while the remaining 24 (0.42 per cent) were private candidates,” he said. Azhar said a total of 5,769 candidates registered for the STPM exam last year, an increase of one candidate compared to 5,768 candidates in the 2020 STPM. He added that the overall CGPA for Sarawak last year was 2.71, an increase of 0.06 per cent compared to CGPA of only 2.65 in STPM 2020. State Education director Datu Dr Azhar Ahmad said this was an increase of 0.09 per cent when compared to only 89 candidates obtaining similar results in the 2020 STPM exam. “In addition, a total of 1,924 candidates or 34.23 per cent scored a CGPA of 3.0 and above,” he said when announcing the state’s STPM 2021 result at SMK Kubong in Limbang today.

Ekhwan said the number of candidates who scored a CGPA of 2.00 and above last year was higher than in 2020. Ekhwan said more than 70 per cent of STPM 2021 candidates obtained a passing grade of C or above for the 23 subjects offered. Ekhwan said candidates who scored a CGPA of 4.0 accounted for 2.14 per cent of the total 40,926 STPM candidates last year. Of the total candidates, 88.24 per cent scored a CGPA of 2.00 and above. "Of the total candidates who scored a CGPA of 4.0 in STPM 2021, 66.82 per cent, or 584 of them, are from the B40 category," said Ekhwan, who is also Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia vice-chancellor. Malaysian Examinations Council chairman Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman said 874 STPM candidates scored a perfect CGPA of 4.0 in 2021, an increase of 133 candidates from 741 candidates in 2020.
