Media personnel had earlier gathered at Sungai Buloh Prison at about 5pm, but later information revealed that Najib was being brought to Kajang Prison instead. It is understood that a small crowd of about 20 bystanders had gathered near the entrance earlier to watch the historic moment earlier, but they were asked to leave by police personnel at about 6.30pm. At the time of writing, only a group of about 30 media personnel were staking out the prison entrance, accompanied by gloomy, wet weather and the sound of crickets.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Prisons Department has denied that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is given special treatment at the Kajang Prison.
Earlier, Facebook user D'eyo Adie uploaded a photograph of a purported prison cell that appears to be filled with amenities and claimed to be reserved for VIPs. The Facebook user claimed that prison cells for VIPs were equipped with a television set, internet, books, air conditioning, comfortable beds and mattresses. It also denied the validity of a photograph that had gone viral, which was purported to be a cell for VIPs complete with amenities.
