Ahead of the Alchemy of Souls part 1 finale later today, a 10-episode season 2 has just been reported to release in December 2022.
Part 1 first aired on June 18, and ends with episode 20 on the 28th. I’m sure I’m missing some relevant cultural context, but I find this series, through the first eight available episodes, thoroughly enjoyable, a needed escape. Part 2 will be aired in the second half of the year. “Reminiscent of the k-drama Crash Landing on You, in that it’s a love story with charming and very competent actors. “There are so many changes and variations in our narrative, so I thought I wanted to put a human story in it. I didn’t have time to do fun with the tiki-taka.” It was more difficult than I thought to put the narrative and relationship story in 20 parts, so I made the decision early on.” – Park Joon-hwa, via “[Alchemy of Souls] is divided into Part 1 and Part 2 to be broadcast. Episode 20 of Alchemy of Souls starts this season finale with Park Jin walking with Maidservant Kim. She reveals she'd like to stay in a cosy house with her ...
Armed with the bells, Jin-Mu heads in to see Park Jin and warns that Naksu is on the rampage. She jumps into the water and lets herself be submerged to the depths. Now, it could well be that the king punishes Songrim for what’s happened and this plays right into the hands of Jin-Mu. Speaking of which, if Bu-Yeon is supposed to be this powerful sorceress, shouldn’t she have interfered with the whole bells malarkey? However, hands grab her and start to bring her back to the surface. The bells ring once more but this time Mu-Deok takes off, leaving Jang-Uk to bleed out on the ground. Unfortunately, Jin-Mu uses this to his advantage and encourages the Crown Prince to make Jang-Uk hit rock bottom. Not only that but Jin-Mu starts to put all the pieces together and realizes that Mu-Deok is actually Naksu. Mu-Deok is nowhere to be found either, given she’s fallen under the influence of Jin-Mu’s sorcery. So-I eventually smuggles the medicine to Yul to help him with his pain. She’s not exactly in the forgiving mood and tells him she hopes he’s in agony after what he’s done to their family. As for Park Jin, he realizes Jin-Mu knows all about Jang Gang’s past and decides the only solution is to have him killed.
With the new female lead Go Yoon-jung along with the same cast members, fans are having a hard time saying goodbye to their beloved Jung So-min. But after the ...
The preview clip has already got us making theories and what is to happen while Jang Uk uses Naksu’s sword to kill soul shifters in the video. A reborn Jang Uk, a revengeful Jin Cho-yeon, the mature crown prince, Seo Yul and Park Dang-gu, all have only added fuel to our excitement and we cannot wait for December to arrive. While it was always known that the show will have two parts, there was no news about the release date of season 2 until just recently.
As you know by now, Jang Uk had managed to curb the power of soul stone before it could kill many. He did make it seem as if the Crown Prince had achieved this ...
[Jung So-min](https://www.sportskeeda.com/pop-culture/news-tvn-s-fantasy-drama-resurrection-confirms-cast-change-female-lead), who portrays Mu-deok in Alchemy of Souls doesn’t return to the show, how will the makers explain her connection to Jinyowan and the Jin family? So-yi also confirms the existence of her daughter Jin Bu-yeon, who vanished after the first appearance of the soul stone. What is unfortunate is that Mu-deok jumped to her death and may not survive the fall in the form recognised by Jang Uk. There are many knots that need to be untangled in the upcoming episodes and one of them is the fate of Jang Uk and Naksu. Can Jang Uk really get over Mu-deok’s loss and continue to love Naksu in her new form? Jin Mu could have duped the crown prince, who saw Jang Uk as a threat to his throne. The end of Alchemy of Souls season 1 episode 20, also sees Jang Uk appear unhurt from a huge bonfire that had been lit to bid him farewell. However, considering the fact that Naksu is a soul shifter, and that her soul is running wild, Naksu might have to abandon Mu-deok’s body. His friends and family believed that Mu-deok’s stabbing had resulted in Jang Uk’s death. Unable to let go of her guilt, she decides to end her life and jumps to her death. He did make it seem as if the Crown Prince had achieved this feat, however, as someone born under the King’s Star, he was destined to take control of the soul stone. She is surrounded by Songrim men in the forest and Jang uk interferes to protect her but she stabs him with the sword, when he calls her name, she awakens for a moment and calls for his name too. In the preview For part two of the drama, a still reveals that Naksu is alive and well but her body was burned so we don’t know how she got there. Hong sisters have the habit of creating convoluted universes and by that, I mean complicating them to the point that you just sort of tune out of the specifics and only tune in for the sake of the amazing chemistry and the main love triangles that take shape. Now we know from the preview that Naksu comes back to her body so it might mean that Jung So Min is not returning for season two. On the wedding day, Naksu is awakened by Jin Mu who tells her to kill who actually is her father and run wild. He says she came to avenge her father and convinces the royal family with his lies. When he finds out that Jang Uk is leaving and he might lose his grip on the prince, he recalls Mu Deok and comes to the conclusion that she’s Naksu. He didn’t catch onto it at first but managed to save it and proposed to her using seeds of flowers. He proposed to her after she confessed to him she liked him. Jin Mu shows up and says Naksu is here and he will get rid of her. Jin Mu convinces him they’re lying to him to protect Jang Uk by bringing up the fact that master lee and Park Jin know who truly owns that. He makes them reconcile and he asks her to be with him.

Overall, the first season Netflix’s Alchemy of Souls was an enticing, consistently solid introduction to (and journey through) the complex world of Daeho. In the grand scheme of things, the flaws are only minute complaints though, especially when there is so much to praise. Similarly, the unravelling changes of Mu-deok from a resilient, steely assassin to a selfless, caring partner are sweet in how they play out, especially given the fact she never quite loses touch with the hard-nosed person she once was. Laced with intricacy, detail, and dedicated world building, Alchemy of Souls has all the hallmarks of a noteworthy, memorable K-Drama. As touched on earlier, this level of intricate detail is a major strength, as well as a periodic flaw. Add to that a stacked support cast which ranges from swindlers to soul shifting Queens, and again it’s clear just how layered Alchemy of Souls is.
