Minaj has previously won five VMAs for her work on jams like “Super Bass,” “Starships” and “Anaconda.” She has also received a handful of nominations, including Best New Artist in 2010, which she lost to Justin Bieber. In addition to receiving this year’s Video Vanguard trophy, Minaj also entered Sunday’s ceremony with a Best Hip-Hop Video nomination for “Do We Have a Problem?” which she shared with Lil Baby. “She has shifted the music industry and cemented her status as a global superstar with her crossover appeal, genre-defying style and continuing to be unapologetically ‘Nicki.'”

On top of the super renowned award she’s already set to take home, Nicki is also nominated for her single “Do We Have a Problem?” in the Best Hip Hop category. Nicki Minaj has not been to the VMAs in a few years, but the show she just gave us just made up for all the lost time. Like, Madonna, Janet Jackson, J.Lo and and Missy Elliott were all prior awardees of the honor as well as David Bowie and The Beatles.
