Erik ten Hag is in search of continued good form against Brendan Rodgers' Foxes.
Sergino Dest was a target, [but that is now unlikely](https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/sergino-dest-transfer-usmnt-defender-set-to-move-to-serie-a-champions-ac-milan-from-barcelona/) with Aaron Wan Bissaka set to stay. Leicester: Three straight losses and Wesley Fofana leaving for Chelsea has made for a deflating start to the season. Both teams to score with United winning by a goal would not be a surprise. Pick: A narrow United win makes sense here. Another loss would have alarm bells well and truly ringing in Leicestershire while a third consecutive victory would continue United's recovery. Rodgers has a job on to avoid being the next manager under pressure after Scott Parker's dismissal and an ability to reinvest much of the Fofana fee will not help.
Manchester United will be seeking a third consecutive win in the Premier League when they take on Leicester on Thursday.

The Brazilian did not come cheap at £85.5m, but he was one of Ten Hag’s top targets this summer and the manager will be delighted to have got the deal over the line late in the window. Ten Hag will be tempted to keep Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench after back-to-back wins with Marcus Rashford up front. Southampton probably deserved a point on the balance of play, but United dug deep to leave St Mary’s with a clean sheet.
KING POWER STADIUM, LEICESTER — Although transfer deadline day is dominating the headlines, there is some football to be played tonight, too, as Leicester ...
20 mins to KO: The Red Devils are searching for a first win in six over Leicester. United strike as Rashford plays a nice short ball behind Leicester's last man and into the path of Sancho, who gets beyond Danny Ward and slots in coolly. 30th min: United are quite happy to keep possession now, with the scoreline giving Christian Eriksen a chance to start purring from his deep midfield position. Fernandes then plays in his compatriot for a third chance, but Ronaldo goes too wide and there are no teammates to meet his ball across the box. Ronaldo is of course up top, with Rashford moving to the left. HALF-TIME: Boos from a smattering of home fans as the players head down the tunnel. Moments later, the Brazilian made an interception in a dangerous area and then immediately played a great cross-field ball to Fernandes on the right flank. But that in itself will satisfy the Dutchman, who rode the rockiest of waves to start his United career, and has now enjoyed a memorable win over Liverpool to stem the tide and some plain sailing with back-to-back away victories. Ronaldo was surprisingly strong from the bench, too, crafting several opportunities to extend the lead, and being lively across the frontline. The Red Devils held on to end a run of five games against Leicester without a win, and ensure spirits are high ahead of Sunday’s huge home clash with league leaders Arsenal. United took their foot off the gas and controlled proceedings with comfort, as Leicester struggled to make any inroads. The former Borussia Dortmund star had began the game well, interchanging with Bruno Fernandes and each of United’s attacks seeming to flow through him.
Jadon Sancho's first-half goal was enough to give Manchester United its third-straight win, a 1-0 defeat of struggling Leicester City on Thursday.
It was a bid to try and swing the match back in United’s favor. Sancho finding his footing: It took a year and three managers, but Jadon Sancho’s looking more like the Sancho who lit up the Bundesliga. It’s been a tough run of fixtures, as the Foxes have lost to Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Southampton, but this team is a far cry from good or even fun. Brendan Rodgers has done plenty of good in his time as a boss but he’s got a massive challenge ahead as Jamie Vardy doesn’t look right, Youri Tielemans is going to leave within a year, and Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho are not getting minutes. It was a brave move but one he simply had to make at the time (Cristiano Ronaldo and Luke Shaw also lost their places). It’s what you get when a manager is given real power and it has United in a much-improved position even before Casemiro or Antony start a match in red.

“I think he had a quite good pre-season,” Ten Hag told reporters at his post-match press conference. “We knew Leicester would come out fighting in the second half, and as you could see, they had a few chances towards the end. Hopefully, I can score next time.”
Jadon Sancho lifted Man United past Leicester City and the Red Devils look more confident than they have in a while. But attacking concerns persist.
Once we have Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro getting fitter it will get better still -- we need not only a team we need a squad." Manager United manager Erik Ten Hag on the win: "It is another step forward so I am happy with that. Minute-by-minute report: Will the Foxes escape the bottom of the table or can United continue their recent improvement? Join Rob Smyth.
A high-profile win against an improving but still eminently beatable Manchester United would reduce the noise and lift Leicester off the bottom of the table. At his best, he’s fine – I thought he was player of the match in the Europa League final, for example. They have had vile luck with injuries over the last couple of years, and their net spend since Rodgers took over in 2019 is among the lowest in the league. A year ago, Brendan Rodgers was the same odds as Erik ten Hag to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United manager. I know he’s not the best player in the world, I know he occasionally behaves like a 25-year-old, but I bloody love James Maddison. Eventually the ball was fed into Eriksen, who dummied to go across goal and then dragged a shot past the near post. 13 min “Rob,” says Rod Wooden, “never mind about Ronaldo being on the bench against Norwich, he would probably be only a substitute for Norwich at the moment. A transfer request when he was left out at home to Norwich? “I imagine he was a bit surprised that Champions League clubs were not lining up to get him.” Dalot collected a Leicester goalkick and flipped the ball down the right to Fernandes. 18 min Maddison is starting to impose his personality on the game. I’m sorry but it is really getting on my nerves and not so much the decisions but time which just shows incompetence.”
