10 Perks Of Watching Bleach (CBR)

Bleach may have its flaws, but this lengthy shonen anime is worth a watch, and fans won't regret a moment.

For anime fans who don't like filler episodes, this isn't much of a perk at all, and that is understandable. This is a fairly minor and nonessential part of joining any anime fandom, but it can still be wonderfully rewarding for interested fans. Watching obscure anime titles can feel cozy, with it being just the viewer and the show, but joining a community has its perks, too. Fans with limited time can't handle the marathon length of Bleach and its kin, but for other anime fans, the concept of "more to love" is what matters most. On some levels, Bleach feels a lot like Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, the latter of which actually drew inspiration from Bleach. Bleach's OST has to be heard to be believed, and anime fans won't forget it anytime soon. In the eyes of such fans, a long anime like Bleach only becomes more lovable with time, and getting burned out is impossible. This soundtrack is weirdly effective with its blend of engaging rock music, violins, piano, ethereal choirs, and synths to evoke a supernatural feeling in this anime. Now is a good time as any to either rewatch Bleach or try it out for the first time, and the experience will be immensely rewarding. For some anime fans, this is a welcome step back. Pound for pound, modern anime series have combat systems that easily rival Bleach, but they tend to hit a plateau pretty soon. These are the legendary titans of shonen anime, and even if they have their flaws, all three are absolutely worth watching.

Naruto vs. Bleach: Which Supporting Cast Had More Wasted ... (CBR)

When comparing the secondary cast of Naruto and Bleach, which series suffered more from wasted potential?

While she serves as the hype-man for Kenpachi Zaraki throughout the series and does have a meaningful battle during the Thousand-Year Blood War, her implied existence as a Zanpakuto spirit intertwines with her [development alongside the 11th Division Captain.](https://www.cbr.com/bleach-is-loneliness-the-price-of-strength/) This does not remove her from the analysis entirely, but it is a factor that is to be considered. [Ino and Choji lacked any of the emotion](https://www.cbr.com/naruto-ino-yamanaka-haircut-character-development-and-meaning/) granted to Shikamaru after the death of Asuma, always appearing in tandem with their superiorly portrayed team leader. Whilst he had a Bankai, it was used by a Sternritter in place of the Soul Reaper, making his lack of urgency that more insulting. As a primary protagonist from the very first chapter of the Bleach manga, it would be unreasonable to include her within the analysis of Vice Captain characters. With the numerous Vice Captains, it was only natural that some would be left out of the limelight, but to what degree was a depressingly surprising reality. In fact, while Renji is a member of the Vice Captain group, he quickly became one of the primary protagonists of the series. It is natural that the majority of the story would focus on the development of the main cast, considering most narratives center on their actions and choices.

The original Bleach lived on Crunchyroll for a time, however it has since been removed. Despite its imminent release, fans were left in the dark for quite some time in terms of where exactly Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War would be streaming, with most presuming it would end up among its Studio Pierrot-produced peers some place like Crunchyroll, but it was only a week ago that Hulu and Disney Plus was confirmed as the new home for the franchise. In a somewhat uncharacteristic fumble for Disney, the first episode of the anime series appeared on Disney Plus nearly a full day before it was supposed to, with fans in Brazil and New Zealand jumping at the opportunity to get stuck back into the beloved universe, before Disney inevitably caught on and swiftly took the episode down.

Bleach is back for its final arc with Thousand-Year Blood War, and it's streaming on Hulu after being removed from Crunchyroll. Ichigo Kurosaki and the rest ...

Nods to classic anime intros — each of the four main characters gets a splashy name card as they’re introduced — blend old anime tropes with a more contemporary style. As an older anime, we didn’t get to see Ichigo and the rest of the cast age into more contemporary animation like we have with One Piece. Seeing the four for the first time in so long is jarring; for a moment I feel like I lose control of any coherent thoughts and astral project back into a 15-year-old version of myself that screamed about these characters on Tumblr. Old, semi-stagnant fight scenes have been replaced with operatic high-flying antics that focus a lot more on the movement and feel like much more choreographed fight scenes to entertain, rather than filler to take up time in an episode. We see a deep dark lab in the Seireitei in chaos, with pretty much no explanation of what’s happening. And from the first frames of the new show, it’s clear those new to Bleach won’t find a whole lot to go by, and longtime fans may find themselves catching up as well.

[the BLEACH captains](https://animecorner.me/bleach-2022-gets-new-short-trailer-featuring-the-gotei-13-captains/) finally have the space to go all out and seeing it animated is going to be amazing. Now that the series is split into multiple, seasonal cours, it seems unlikely that filler will be a necessity like it was in the original anime. The original BLEACH anime suffered from frequently slow pacing and a depressing amount of filler. BLEACH 2022 takes advantage of its freedom in structuring events to give fight scenes a bit more than the manga did and it’s very much appreciated for a premiere. Rather, the sort of mid-fight Manzai humor BLEACH occasionally makes use of was toned down in order to give full focus to the action. [streaming on Disney+](https://animecorner.me/bleach-thousand-year-blood-war-to-stream-internationally-on-disney-plus-hulu-in-the-us/) I initially was worried that violence would get toned down but luckily this is not the case. The original OST returned in updated form (hearing it really hit differently) and many production aspects of the episode felt like they were playing off the first episode of the original anime. Perhaps part of that hype was the contrast between the animation in 2012 and animation now (seriously, go look at what was considered good animation back then) but BLEACH looks absolutely fantastic. The last time there was a new episode of BLEACH was in March of 2012 — we haven’t seen Ichigo and his friends fight for over a decade. Episode 1 featured plenty of shots meant to reintroduce and pay homage to different elements of the series. I’d seen chatter after the BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War pre-screening that the animation was movie quality and now I entirely understand. The same characters are back but the quality has improved, there’s fresh and exciting content, and the wisdom of previous versions of the anime is there as a foundation for BLEACH 2022.

This was just the start of what the show is capable of, and it was every bit as good as it has ever been. Everything that the show has been known for was kept up and enhanced in this episode, and the great thing about it is that the source material is just as strong, if not stronger than it used to be. Hence, a reintroduction of everything important about the plot was necessary, and it was handled very well by the episode. The first episode of the final saga of Bleach was absolutely amazing. The final arc of Bleach is directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, who has been involved in the productions of Persona 4 The Animation and Twin Star Exorcists, and the series is based on a manga written by Tite Kubo. It is one of the most popular anime in the west of Japan of all time and is considered a part of the Big Three, a trio of anime widely recognised as having been a part of popularising the medium of anime.

In fact, nearly every aspect of the first episode is being praised by fans in some corner of the internet. Fans are also praising the overall cinematography and art direction, as well as character designs which are consistent with author and illustrator Tite Kubo’s original manga. This led to many fans seeing the episode’s premiere on Sunday, October 9 rather than Disney’s intended non-Japanese first-viewing day of Monday, October 10. The appearance of Ichigo’s freshly renovated Bankai form and transformation also particularly (and unsurprisingly) stole the show for many fans.

Bleach: Every Captain Of The Gotei 13, Ranked By Likeability (Game Rant)

While many members of the Gotei 13 make it onto the fan-favorite list, not all are admired by Bleach lovers. Bleach Gotei 13 Captains Ranked by Likeability ...

Jūshirō Ukitake is the personification of the term "good guy," as he follows a sound moral code with an understanding manner that has earned him much respect from his fellow Shinigami (and viewers, too). His chiseled features leave little to be desired, while his carefree, laid-back personality is a refreshing relief from the rigidity of many other Shinigami. Unohana has been kind-hearted and tender to her core since joining the healers of Seireitei, after overcoming a troubled and traumatic past. He is, however, arguably the most important figure in Seireitei's history, as the founder of the Gotei 13, who has protected countless lives for over a thousand years. Kenpachi is, however, the very definition of awesome, making it extremely difficult to hold him in discontent. The 10th Division Captain is certainly an interesting character, being a child prodigy with a genius-level intellect and an overpowered zanpakuto, but he clearly knows it and acts accordingly. Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto's biggest fault is his uncompromising, closeminded mentality that would rather follow the rules that allocate some well-deserved leeway. The 6th Division Captain has a short temper and a long list of haters, but thankfully still manages to come to Ichigo's aid after all is said and done. Despite appearances, Komamura is a big ol' softy at heart who is loyal (to a fault) and is gravely sorrowed by Tōsen's betrayal. When it comes to Soi-Fon, there is not much of a gray area, as viewers either adore or despise the 2nd Division Captain. The 12th Division Captain regards the world as one big experiment, while everyone is a potential lab rat, which he can subsequently torture, maim, or kill for the sake of science. From Kurosaki Ichigo's point of view, most of the Gotei 13 leave an antagonistic first impression, as their general code of ethics is not always as sound as it should be in Bleach.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Premiere Review - IGN (IGN)

Bleach shines in an adaptation that isn't afraid to stray from the source material.

While Bleach is known for action scenes, the source material often includes slice-of-life moments and slapstick humor intermittently. The Thousand-Year Blood War is Bleach at its best. The Thousand-Year Blood War arc pits the Soul Reapers against another spiritual military group known as the Quincy. It’s a great way to halt the narrative power creep that often plagues late-stage anime arcs such as Thousand-Year Blood War while adding another reason to fear the new antagonist. The improved adaptation style can presumably be attributed to the new series director, Tomohisa Taguchi, who also storyboarded the premiere. When he arrives, it’s the dead of night and he’s terrified. The decision to start this character’s experience with silence highlights the impact Ichigo and his friends have when they inevitably save the new recruit. The anime adds a sequence dwelling on the character’s fear, developing the terror of the night with beautifully composed shots of the individual and a hauntingly empty city. This imagery immediately gives us something to latch onto – and understand why the Quincy faction is so scary. After a decade away, Bleach has finally returned to adapt the manga series’ final arc. There’s a new filter over the show, providing a movie-esque shading. Despite reasonable concerns that the magic may have dissipated, the true joys of Bleach remain unchanged.
