Sean O'Malley is aware that UFC 280 opponent Petr Yan is known for his slow starts, but he's not expecting that to be the case this weekend.

However, I believe experience could be the key to success at UFC 280 with Oliveira by far the more battle-tested of the two men having fought against the best of the best for a number of years now. Also a talented grappler – albeit Division III, not the same calibre as Dillashaw – Sterling has found his success in the UFC thanks to an uncanny ability to find a way to his opponent’s back. His ability to control the contest on the ground will be tested to its limits against Oliveira however, with the 33-year-old Brazilian the most prolific submission artist in UFC history with 16 finishes to his name. Oliveira is the one of the two who’s been dropped a bunch recently, in part because he’s overly aggressive and leaves defensive openings. On paper, Oliveira has the submission grappling pedigree to survive a wrestling attack. He’s simply putting everything together and is a joy to watch. He’s extremely aggressive on the feet, and a dangerous finisher.
