Tottenham anger behind the scenes at decision and Conte's ... (Football.London)

Here are our Tottenham Hotspur talking points after their 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday.

That includes changes like bringing on Ben Davies and Matt Doherty late in the game, which saw Emerson Royal switching to the right of a back three. "Pierre, it was the same because Pierre played every game, he played every minute, and he was really tired. Our target now has to be to try on Wednesday to win the game because to go to the next round is a good opportunity for us. Now, after the game against United, he felt a lot of fatigue and then yesterday, he felt fatigued in his calf. "In this moment, we are playing massive games, and for example, there are players like Hojbjerg who has played every game, and at the end, there was an injury because he was tired. Lucas Moura started the season with this problem in his tendon, and now he's trying to recover a good physical condition. "The way out of this is to work hard, to reflect on those last couple of games and there are plenty of things to improve on and we'll be doing everything we can to make sure that come Wednesday that happens. It was nice to be back on the grass but I would have liked to have performed a bit better and helped the team to get that victory," Skipp told SpursPlay. It needs to deliver a solution if Spurs are to find extra creativity in their game and not be so reliant on a 22-year-old. "In the first half we started really well and we played really well. On the flanks, Sessegnon struggled to make an impact after a bright start, with just a 61.9% pass success rate, and was replaced by the equally ineffective Ivan Perisic. He set down his marker for the day with an early back pass that flew pass Hugo Lloris and inches wide of Spurs' goal.

Tottenham 1-2 Newcastle - Match Report: Magpies fly into fourth (Coming Home Newcastle)

A third game inside a testing week for Eddie Howe's men saw them travel to the capital to face Tottenham Hotspur. An impressive point at Old Trafford ...

Newcastle are a real threat to the top six and are ruffling plenty of feathers so far this season. Managerless-Villa ahead next Saturday to wrap October up before the last two Premier League games before the World Cup take place in November—with an EFL Cup detour smacked right in the middle of those two. Newcastle felt they ought to have been awarded a penalty eight minutes after the restart when Joelinton’s far-post header hit the outstretched arm of Emerson Royal. Newcastle didn’t let that deflate them, they refused to sit back and looked dangerous on the counter as Joe Willock’s teasing shot was very nearly diverted on target by Wilson. Lloris’ poor clearance out wide was pounced on by the impressive Sean Longstaff who headed the ball down to Miguel Almiron. Two further attempts inside the first 10 minutes cleared Pope’s crossbar, but Son should have put the hosts in the lead when he latched onto Harry Kane’s through ball, only to see his dinked effort cleared by Kieran Trippier on the goal line.
