This is just the beginning for Jonathan Majors' Avengers villain.

Judging by this brief glimpse of footage, Ant-Man and the MCU will soon have their work cut out for them. Little details stick out, including a swirling sky reminiscent of deep space photographs, a bar with patrons that wouldn’t be out of place in a Star Wars film, Bill Murray, and even a spaghettified version of Ant-Man himself. With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opening in just few weeks, it’s time for the mighty Marvel machine to start promotion for the next cog in its ever-churning engine.

Is Ant-Man 3's Kang The Conqueror The Same As Loki's He Who ... (Screen Rant)

The trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania debuts Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, but is he the same as He Who Remains from Loki?

[Sylvie nor Loki took over the TVA](https://screenrant.com/loki-sylvie-he-who-remained-lied-plan-takeover/), and with He Who Remains no longer alive, the Sacred Timeline began to split and created the endless multiverse that will continue to be explored in the rest of the Multiverse Saga. [Loki season 2](https://screenrant.com/loki-season-2-release-date-story-cast/) will likely focus on Kang's conquest, as hinted by the finale's end scene, and potentially even have another variant. In terms of what happened to He Who Remains, the answer to that is vital to Kang's appearance in Ant-Man 3. At the end of Loki, Sylvie, hellbent on murdering the head of the TVA due to the destruction of her timeline, killed He Who Remains. [Loki, He Who Remains](https://screenrant.com/phase-4-already-proved-lokis-he-who-remains-was-right-all-along/) was revealed as the head of the TVA, with his control of the Sacred Timeline stopping the endless multiverses from colliding with one another. Given the multiversal nature of the MCU's Phases 4, 5, and 6, as well as the characters both being played by Majors, Kang and He Who Remains could be the cause of some confusion for audiences.

'Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania' director Peyton Reed told Marvel fans or “true believers” on Twitter to “fasten their seatbelts.”

I grew up reading the comics and I knew the character of Kang the Conqueror, who’s one of the big, big bad characters in the comics, so to be able to put up our heroes against Kang the Conqueror was a huge thing for us. “And we also knew that we wanted to put our heroes up against a very, very formidable opponent. “We were thrilled to get to do a third Ant-Man movie and do a trilogy,” Reed told EW back in July at San Diego Comic-Con.

Why Kang The Conqueror's Costume & Face Are Blue (Screen Rant)

Marvel's first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania reveals Kang the Conquer's blue face and armor, confirming his classic comics style.

While the Kang seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania might not be the same version seen in 2025's [Avengers: The Kang Dynasty](https://screenrant.com/tag/the-avengers-5/), the classic blue face, and armor strongly suggest he could be the primary variant audiences will interact with in the MCU going forward. [new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer](https://screenrant.com/antman-3-trailer-song-elton-john-yellow-brick-road/) calls back to his most recognized and classic look. The blue "skin" is simply a part of said technology. Although it looks as though Kang the Conqueror has blue skin in the new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, he is, in fact human. Born in the 31st Century, Kang was a scientist who learned to harness time itself, making it his mission in the comics to conquer time and build an empire spanning multiple eras. Likewise, this new style helps establish Kang as a new variant compared to the version audiences were first introduced to in the MCU.

Could Kang The Conqueror Defeat The MCU's Thanos? - Looper (Looper)

With Kang the Conqueror the next big bad the Avengers will have to defeat, who would win in a battle between him and Thanos, the Mad Titan?

Ultimately, while a hypothetical conflict would be tough for both parties, Kang's advantages against Thanos would be more than enough to tip the scales in his favor. Thanos, on the other hand, doesn't concern himself with other universes or variants of himself, with his goal being to kill half of all life in his universe of origin. And as that version of Kang informs Loki, he's not even close to the worst version of himself. As Kang, then going by the moniker He Who Remains, explains to Loki in the Season 1 finale of "Loki," there are infinite versions of himself scattered across the Multiverse, many of whom are hell-bent on conquering every universe in existence. [Kang has drawn a lot of excitement](https://www.looper.com/1069051/ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania-trailer-has-fans-buzzing-about-kangs-intimidating-presence/) from fans, is he really more of a threat to the MCU than Thanos (Josh Brolin)? When the MCU's Avengers take Thanos on at the height of his power, they nearly succeed in stopping him multiple times, first on Titan and later on Earth during the Battle of Wakanda. And Kang wouldn't need to face Thanos at his most powerful since he could pick any point in time to attack from. His physiology evolved on the world of Titan, and he is already a widely feared conqueror of planets way before he ever gets the powers of the Infinity Stones. Only when Thanos uses the Time Stone to reverse his own defeat is he able to obtain the Mind Stone and finally execute half of all life in the universe. First played by Jonathan Majors on the Disney+ series "Loki," Kang will be the new big bad of the MCU and the ultimate villain its heroes will have to defeat in [the next "Avengers" films](https://www.looper.com/938623/marvel-just-dropped-the-most-mind-breaking-phase-6-news/). [as depicted in Marvel comics](https://www.looper.com/461160/the-differences-between-kang-in-the-original-comics-and-loki-explained/), is leagues ahead of anything available in the present day, meaning he'd stand a better chance against the Mad Titan than Earth's mightiest heroes. In other words, we haven't yet seen the versions of Kang who are going to cause real trouble.
