The trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania debuts Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, but is he the same as He Who Remains from Loki?

[Sylvie nor Loki took over the TVA](https://screenrant.com/loki-sylvie-he-who-remained-lied-plan-takeover/), and with He Who Remains no longer alive, the Sacred Timeline began to split and created the endless multiverse that will continue to be explored in the rest of the Multiverse Saga. In terms of what happened to He Who Remains, the answer to that is vital to Kang's appearance in Ant-Man 3. At the end of Loki, Sylvie, hellbent on murdering the head of the TVA due to the destruction of her timeline, killed He Who Remains. Given the multiversal nature of the MCU's Phases 4, 5, and 6, as well as the characters both being played by Majors, Kang and He Who Remains could be the cause of some confusion for audiences.

'Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania' director Peyton Reed told Marvel fans or “true believers” on Twitter to “fasten their seatbelts.”

I grew up reading the comics and I knew the character of Kang the Conqueror, who’s one of the big, big bad characters in the comics, so to be able to put up our heroes against Kang the Conqueror was a huge thing for us. “And we also knew that we wanted to put our heroes up against a very, very formidable opponent. “We were thrilled to get to do a third Ant-Man movie and do a trilogy,” Reed told EW back in July at San Diego Comic-Con.

Born in the 31st Century, Kang was a scientist who learned to harness time itself, making it his mission in the comics to conquer time and build an empire spanning multiple eras. Likewise, this new style helps establish Kang as a new variant compared to the version audiences were first introduced to in the MCU.
