Lallana has brought 'Liverpool standards' to Brighton's approach ... (The Athletic)

Adam Lallana is driving up standards at Brighton & Hove Albion to the levels that made him a Premier League and Champions League winner with Liverpool.

And Roberto De Zerbi, who took charge in late September when Potter left for [Chelsea](https://theathletic.com/football/team/chelsea/), is deploying Lallana in the same position. He’s a joy to play with.” [Lallana, who has been used in a variety of midfield roles by Brighton](https://theathletic.com/3507836/2022/08/16/adam-lallana-brighton-graham-potter/), is excelling this season as a No 10. Encouragingly for Brighton supporters, they are about to see more of Lallana if he steers clear of the injury niggles that have plagued his career. The standards are so, so high, that’s what pushes the squads on and gets people improving. [Adam Webster](https://theathletic.com/football/player/adam-webster-C7uQA0u6HES9mGlo/), the club’s record signing, revealed the extent of Lallana’s influence after the 34-year-old attacking midfielder scored and provided an assist in the 3-2 away win over [Wolves](https://theathletic.com/football/team/wolverhampton-wanderers/) on Saturday. It was a great finish, a great goal — and then he provides the cross for the second goal. That’s so good for me and Dunky ( If you are not doing it in training, then you won’t play at the weekend, it’s as simple as that.” The first year he came in, the culture wasn’t what it’s like at the club now. “It took a few months for it to happen but then, once it happened, everyone’s done it every day. “We knew it was going to help the squad and he certainly has. Webster, speaking exclusively to The Athletic, said of Lallana’s signing: “Everyone was buzzing.

Wolves Fans' Verdict v Brighton: Julen Lopetegui has a big job on ... (shropshirestar.com)

Before half-time VAR had enabled us to score again – two goals in a half. Unfortunately that was as good as it got. Semedo was a fault for their equaliser and ...

That is disgraceful form considering the players we have and the drop is looming. We nearly got there and near misses are of no use to us given our predicament, but every player showed commitment in difficult circumstances; nobody shirked or went AWOL and we almost made the best of a bad job. We’re creaking at the seams and his impact needs to be immediate otherwise we are history. This game was exactly the same and had it all. His sending-off sealed our fate but you almost felt a sense of relief for the guy that his torment came to a mercifully premature conclusion. Crumbs of comfort I know but we are in dire straits and struggling for any positives. We looked hugely vulnerable; we conceded vast areas of open space and again lacked bite in the challenge once again appearing short on physicality. Ever since the red card he has looked poor and this was definitely the worst I’ve seen of him. Brighton are a joy to watch and although we held our own with 10 men, it really was a footballing lesson being taught. There were few positives in this game although Guedes did have his best game of the season. For the first time this season, we scored two goals in a game, but again our defensive frailties reared their ugly head once again. Passing patiently across the back four, tedious to watch at times, then a forward pass, an increase in tempo and creating chances in the final third.

What Lopetegui learned about Wolves during latest collapse vs ... (Birmingham Live)

Alex Dicken lists his findings from Wolves' latest Premier League defeat to Brighton.

Lopetegui doesn’t have a great deal of options in the central striking position though. The performance of Goncalo Guedes in particular was a positive for Lopetegui. Wolves have lacked a threat in so many of their games this season, but they worried Brighton - with and without their full quota of players on the pitch. When I saw it, his touch came inside but he was a long way out and still had a lot to do. Is it a goalscoring opportunity, I guess it is if he dribbles from that angle inside and scores. Lopetegui knows he has a player capable of posting good numbers from wide positions. Wolves did actually manage to score twice in a Premier League match. Wolves have secured a coach renowned for his ability to set teams up well defensively. Unfortunately for Wolves, their inability to score goals is now matched by a tendency to ship them at the other end. [Yesterday’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/wolves-player-ratings-brighton-semedo-25444446) will have offered Lopetegui plenty of food for thought… [the incoming head coach visits Compton Park on Friday.](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/wolves-steve-davis-julen-lopetegui-25444799) Lopetegui will then watch Wolves’ final game before the World Cup break. Semedo compounded a poor end to the first half by getting himself sent off.
