Many Peruvians saw his announcement on a split screen, because he had come on air suddenly, interrupting the televised congressional testimony of a man named Salatiel Marrufo, a former adviser to the Ministry of Housing, who was explaining how he had paid monthly bribes to six of the President’s eight brothers.
