We’ve been lucky because we’ve brought a lot of kids here, but what they have done is not only maintain the standards, but increase them, so I want to say thank you so much to them because they have been key in this camp to have a successful period in training and compete in the competition. The good thing we have is that everyone has been showing that they are desperate to get back, and they want to be ready as quickly as possible and it was great to have those two back today playing some minutes. We have to raise the standards. We have to put them in those scenarios so that we can develop our players.

Our Norwegian midfielder gives an insight into how things are going for her on and off the pitch.
Us Norwegians celebrate on December 24 but my family’s traditions probably still sound pretty familiar: we always watch Christmas movies on the day, go for a walk together and then in the evening, it’s time for a traditional Norwegian Christmas meal. Seeing my family again for the holidays will be so nice because I spend so much of the year travelling. The 5-1 win against them in the first leg was very good from our side, and although this is a completely different game, we shouldn’t disregard that amazing result. Not every team qualifies for the Champions League so it’s always a special competition to play in. It’s allowed me to mature as a player because I've developed my decision-making so much on the pitch. I play a different role for Arsenal than I do for my Norwegian national side, but I think the style here suits me better, as we try to play through opponents and generally have more possession. In the press, I would just run to the next player and follow the ball. It’s hard for anyone during those periods on the bench but then it's so nice to come out of the other side and play again. My coaches at Norway were very honest with me the whole time: they told me that I was in a good place and that I was at a good club. I just tried to do my best in training and work hard to develop every day. When I play a bit deeper, I focus more on my partnerships with our centre-backs. I’ve had to be flexible with my positioning as well this season, performing a few different roles across the midfield.

Arsenal are maintaining contact with the entourage of Mykhaylo Mudryk because they "love" the Shakhtar Donetsk winger, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Romano explained exactly where Arsenal are at in the process of targeting Mudryk. He has contributed to as many goals as the number of games he has played in all competitions this season. He could add to a young core of players that Mikel Arteta has nurtured into a table-topping Premier League side.

However, he commented on potential deputy Eddie Nketiah saying that he has not seen enough of the 23-year-old to pass judgment on how well he will fare in Jesus' absence. I have not seen much of Eddie Nketiah but I have seen Arsenal a few times and I think Mikel Arteta is doing a fantastic job. However, their chances have been hampered by the news that Gabriel Jesus will miss a number of months following a knee injury suffered while on international duty with Brazil at the World Cup. He posted a picture to Instagram of himself smiling as he left hospital with the caption: "Hora de ir para casa" (Time to go home). Arsenal face Arteta's former club in what will be a crucial test of their title credentials on February 15, and they will be hoping that Jesus can return before then with City five points behind in the title race at present and appearing to be the strongest challengers. Arsenal have been backed to win the Premier League title despite the injury suffered by Gabriel Jesus, with former England boss Sven Goran-Eriksson saying that the Gunners have what it takes.
According to O Jogo, Arsenal have joined the race to sign Victoria SC midfielder Ibrahima Bamba in January, who could be a great long-term investment.
But the excitement around Bamba is more about how good he could get in the future. The Gunners have been closely watching Bamba for a while, but PSG are also in the race for the Italian’s signature. The midfielder won’t be Arsenal’s top priority in January though, as they desperately need to find a replacement for Jesus, who could be out for up to 12 weeks. Bamba is excellent on the ball, too, with a pass success rate of 85%, so Mikel Arteta could trust him in possession. With this in mind, the Italian could be an excellent backup option for Thomas Partey, who has suffered a couple of injuries already this season. While a new attacker is the priority, signing a new midfielder is not out of the question.

Overall, the Football Manager simulation predicts that Mudryk could be the perfect signing for Arsenal, becoming a vital member of the squad and helping push the Gunners to the Premier League title. Facing north London rivals Tottenham in the FA Cup final, goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane secured a 2-0 win for Spurs in a tough defeat for the Gunners. Three of Mudryk's Premier League goals during his time at the club were matchwinners off the bench, ultimately helping tilt the title in Arteta's favour. After 38 games, Arsenal ended the season with 90 points, four more than Man City in second. Martinelli and Saka started on either wing whilst Jesus led the line, leaving no space for Mudryk in the side. His arrival added healthy competition to the squad, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Despite not playing 90 minutes regularly, Mudryk made the most of every appearance he made, scoring seven goals and registering five assists in a fantastic start to life in north London.
