Up In The Air: New Entry Requirements For Thailand From Monday ... (LoyaltyLobby)

Pandering to their CCP Masters, the Thai Government through the voice of the health minister then made a statement they wouldn't just apply entry rules to the ...

I have a feeling we’re suddenly back in 2021 and Thailand is moving backwards rather than forward just to please the Chinese, something that could very well backfire in a very bad way. Penalties for missed flights and cancellations will, in all likelihood, be at the passenger’s expense. But those are the rules that have to be played by if one wants to visit Thailand from now on until further notice. Passengers coming from countries with measures to prevent people infected with COVID from returning to the country must have health insurance covering COVID treatment throughout the duration of the trip in Thailand. Airlines must adhere to relevant requirements and follow guidelines as appropriate, such as asking passengers to wear masks throughout the journey. If the Passenger is unable to present these documents, the carrier must refuse the passenger to board. All these dates and information are based on information obtained through Richard Barrow’s sources and foreign diplomatic missions. This means that flights departing on Sunday night and arriving after midnight would be affected as well. In short: This is all a CYA, dog & pony show that has nothing to do with public health and safety. Thailand relaxed its requirement for foreigners to be vaccinated in order to travel to the Kingdom last November. Now all of a sudden, this is supposed to be required again without any advance warning. First of was January 7 (today) which came and went, then January 8th (tomorrow).

Thailand Brings Back Travel Restrictions For All Visitors (Travel Off Path)

Additionally, anyone who is traveling onward from Thailand to a country that requires a negative Covid test for entry (such as China) must demonstrate proof of health insurance covering Covid. A better way to handle the reactionary move of re-instating restrictions just for Chinese visitors that many countries are following right now would have been to keep Thailand restriction-free for visitors from all nations. According to Anutin Charnvirakul, the Public Health Minister of Thailand, the move to bring back restrictions for all travelers comes after many countries that were previously open to all travelers with no restrictions started re-imposing restrictions just for Chinese travelers. [according to the Bangkok Post.](https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2476069/proof-of-covid-jabs-for-all-visitors-revived) [reopening for normal travel.](https://www.traveloffpath.com/thailand-removes-all-entry-requirements-returning-to-normal-tourism/) [dropped all Covid-related travel restrictions](https://www.traveloffpath.com/countries-without-any-travel-restrictions-or-entry-requirements/) in 2022, Thailand now sets a worrying precedent by taking a step back and stating they intend to reinstate restrictions.

'We are ready': relief and excitement builds in Thailand with Chinese ... (The Guardian)

South-east Asian nations avoid rules targeting China visitors despite Covid risks, and hope the influx will revive battered tourism sectors.

I think the worst and the hardest part of the Covid time has already passed.” “They should check the vaccination cards and even ask for a Covid test. The UK, India and the US are among various countries now requiring a Covid test for arrivals from China. Before the pandemic, tourists would queue up at Piyanut’s restaurant, Kao Soy Nimman, eager to try his speciality, Khao Soi – a coconut curry noodle soup famous in northern Thailand. The policy change is expected to boost the tourism sector across the wider region, including south-east Asia, which depended heavily on Chinese travellers before the pandemic. After almost three years of little to no business, Thai tour guide operator Anchalee Vittayanuntapornkul is more than relieved that Chinese tourists will soon be allowed to travel again.

Since January 5, the US has required that all air passengers above the age of two show a negative test taken no more than two days before departure from China, Hong Kong or Macau. “Our control measures may be adjusted if the number of COVID-19 patients surges worryingly,” said Anutin, who also doubles as deputy PM. We want real-time information so we know how to prepare ourselves.” There will also be updates on COVID-controls via the Department of Disease Control (DDC) website. “So, how many of [this month’s] 50,000 Chinese arrivals in Thailand will test positive?” If their condition gets serious, they are advised to see a doctor. Don’t forget that sometimes medicine stocks are concentrated in just some areas. For instance, Thai authorities advise inbound travellers to postpone their trips if they have developed respiratory symptoms. Several countries have introduced special rules for travellers from China over concern of fresh coronavirus outbreaks. Thailand has now scrapped almost all COVID-19 control measures for travellers. “We will also monitor the wastewater on aircraft to determine the risk of COVID-19 infections.” Anutin said that after consulting with medical experts, epidemiologists and deans of medical schools, he was convinced that Thailand will be able to handle a new COVID-19 wave even with the huge influx of foreigners.

A poacher's finish from Faisal Halim in the 11th minute gave Malaysia the slender win at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday (Jan 7).
