Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania's new trailer reveals a surprising MCU villain twist with the introduction of MODOK.

We've seen legacy villains like Red Skull and Loki return, and with us never having seen Cross die, it's a clever twist on the source material to make him MODOK. Remembering time works differently in the Quantum Realm, Cross' new look could come from the fact he might have been trapped down there for decades, centuries, even millenniums. MODOK purists might be annoyed they've fused two characters instead of getting a comics-accurate creation, but at least he looks the part. Rumours were already swirling that Ant-Man's Corey Stoll would be playing MODOK and thanks to the latest trailer, we now know it's true. Tarleton underwent mutagenic procedures that massively increased his intelligence but left him with MODOK's signature oversized head. If that’s the case, Scott and the Pyms will have to face two major foes with an axe to grind against them in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania. In the comics, the first M.O.D.O.K. [Disney +’s Loki episode 5’s easter eggs](https://screenrant.com/loki-episode-5-mcu-marvel-easter-eggs/) seemingly already proved Yellowjacket’s return to be connected to Kang and the Multiverse, making the possibility that Scott’s first foe turned into M.O.D.O.K. However, with Ant-Man 3’s primary setting being the Quantum Realm, Yellowjacket’s end in Ant-Man might have just caused Cross to be brought there, leading him to become M.O.D.O.K.. From actor Corey Stoll's MODOK to Kang to Yellowjacket, here's everything we noticed in Marvel's Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania trailer.
Plus his death would set up some pretty huge stakes to help lead us [into the next two Avengers movies](https://www.polygon.com/21452835/new-marvel-movies-come-out-release-schedule) where the team will have to face off with Kang. While D23 audiences saw him back in September, this is the first time the rest of us have gotten a look at MODOK, evil genius, grotesque laboratory experiment, and among the best beloved Marvel supervillains (for being so awful). [trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania](https://www.polygon.com/23547481/ant-man-wasp-quantumania-trailer-modok-kang-release-date-cast) gives Marvel fans a big little look at the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is only about a month away. It’s not an Ant-Man trailer like any we’ve seen before, being [short on jokes](https://youtu.be/GJXL22sRuG4) and long on angst, but let’s dig into those details before Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return for the third and presumably final Ant-Man movie in February.
In addition to Majors, the movie features Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang, William Jackson Harper as ...
He's a giant head in a floating chair and the ruler of AIM--Advanced Idea Mechanics. In the comics, Kang is a time-traveling being with a blue face. And in many ways, this group is a lot scarier than Hydra, as they have advanced weaponry, and there's a whole lot more of them. As we saw in the previous trailer, this is the machine that Cassie creates. The second Ant-Man movie showed that Scott is a great father though, so that will most likely continue here. The new trailer for the movie gave us new insight into the character, the Quantum Realm, and the threats Ant-Man, Wasp, and company will have to face in the film. So Cassie is grown up, and she's showing promise as a scientist, thanks to some mentorship from Hope and her family. In the MCU, it's probably near impossible to avoid the spotlight. Originally appearing in the Disney+ series Loki, a variant of Kang (Jonathan Majors) was keeping the universe in check by not allowing variants to create a multiverse. Peyton Reed returns to the Ant-Man series, making this is the third film he's directed. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will change the course of Marvel movies for the next few years as it will introduce the next villain, Kang the Conqueror, to the movies. On February 17, the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will arrive.

And as the trailer showed him in his floating suit in the Quantum Realm, there's a chance it was built by none other than Kang too. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is finally ready to see if there’s a life away from The Prince of Darkness. The floating foe has played a role in 20 video games, most prominently as the final boss in Marvel's Avengers. The latter was the first series that changed his name from M.O.D.O.K.
