Chef Wan's mother, Cik Ani, passes away at 93 (The Star Online)

Chef Wan shared the sad news that his beloved mother Noraini Abdullah, better known as Cik Ani, had passed away at 6.20am on Thursday (Jan 12).

He added: "We both just need to be grateful to Allah for his blessing that indeed we both have had our fabulous moments too. I do feel it's so much easier to come to terms about mum leaving all of us. sharing that it is hard to see his mother this way. May her soul rest in peace." Nonetheless, he said that he felt grateful to have had his mother in his life for so long and the chance "to take her all over the world and be under my care constantly". In previous posts too, he had shared that he had come to terms that his mother would be leaving the earth soon, as "there's nothing more, I or the medical team could do to reverse all this".

The 64-year-old chef, who shared a close bond with his mother, regularly shared updates of her declining health on his Instagram in the days leading up to her death. Noraini, fondly known as “Cik Ani” breathed her last at 6.20am in her sleep at Gleneagles Hospital, Ampang.
