[Jacob Ramsey](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/286090/Jacob-Ramsey) had gone down in the area just before, and there was a check for a possible foul in the buildup. The striker appealed for a penalty but the referee, Thomas Bramall, waved away the appeals ( [watch here](https://youtu.be/t9qqTsF8zEk?t=246).) The VAR in that game, Darren England, had better available evidence but decided he couldn't be sure that there was a handball offence -- and the Spurs player can consider himself very lucky the penalty wasn't awarded. Most believed the Gunners were denied a clear spot kick when [Gabriel](http://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/236322/Gabriel) had his shirt pulled back by [Dan Burn](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/198138/Dan-Burn). He was caught on the calf by the [Wolverhampton Wanderers](/soccer/team?id=380) player, but referee David Coote ignore the [England](/soccer/team?id=448) international's claims for a penalty and gave a goal kick. They then start February by facing [Everton](https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/everton-fc), Brentford and City in the following three league games. “You can arrive at the training ground and come back at 5pm and half of the staff will still be there working hard. “There are plenty of things to improve, but we are on the right way, I think. The [Ukraine](https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/ukraine) international won four Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola and was eager to bring that winning mentality to his new club. And I started to speak in the dressing room like, ‘guys, forget top three or whatever it is, we need to think about the title’. And after talking openly about their lofty goals, Zinchenko repeated the team mantra. And the atmosphere in the dressing room, around the team, at the training ground, everyone is working so hard. All of us are dreaming, but like I said, there are a lot of games and United are back, City are always there obviously. Oleksandr Zinchenko epitomises Arsenal culture shift as Manchester ... (Evening Standard)

The Ukrainian is the perfect player for Mikel Arteta and has helped engineer a massive mentality change.

It is written into the Mikel Arteta footballing philosophy that the moments of greatest peril in possession present the greatest opportunities, and in Zinchenko the Gunners boss has a player with the quality, not to mention bravery, to exploit every one.
