Juventus vs Lazio: Coppa Italia Match Preview (The Hard Tackle)

Lazio will travel to Turin to take on Juventus, with Massimiliano Allegri hoping the cup competition provides a much-needed distraction.

Sarri’s men could take the win and advance in the Coppa Italia. Vlahovic has the chance to win their hearts with some accomplished performances, particularly in the Coppa Italia game. In the process, they have ousted AC Milan and will eye Juventus as their next big scalp. The full-back returned to the starting lineup at the weekend and could retain his spot. In addition, there are still significant absentees in the team, with Juventus likely to miss Leonardo Bonucci, Juan Cuadrado and Arkadiusz Milik for the Lazio clash. Nicolo Fagioli and Moise Kean should remain in the lineup against Lazio. Felipe Anderson has been performing well in the Italian’s absence, and that idea shall continue. Massimiliano Allegri will look to involve the Serbian striker more and could afford him a start against Lazio. Sarri’s men are unbeaten in five games across all competitions and have big ambitions in the Coppa Italia this season. But losing to the newly-promoted Monza twice in a season showed the confidence all drained out of the team. After consecutive league losses to Napoli and Monza, they languish in the 13th spot on the table. Juventus are not in a good place right now and continue to plunge into chaos with each passing day.

On the other end of the pitch, Juventus have been above-average offensively, garnering 1.33 npxG per 90 minutes, which is sixth in Serie A. On top of that, Juventus are dead last in Serie A in xG allowed per set piece, per Outside of the 15-point penalty, it’s been a good season so far for Juventus on paper. The reason for that is because they are putting a premium on defending their penalty area, as they’re not providing much resistance. They have some of the most unimpressive underlying metrics of any team sitting in a Champions League position across Europe.

It is widely believed that Milik will be out at least a month. As noted above, Thursday night will mark Vlahovic’s return to the starting lineup. And you can totally understand why — just a couple of weeks ago they were sitting in a decently comfortable spot in the top four, albeit just coming off an ass kicking at the hands of league-leading Napoli. But for Juventus, the reality is something that tells us if there is still one legitimate chance at winning a trophy, then it will come in the Coppa Italia. Juventus vs Lazio Picks and Predictions: Lazio Is Live at a Price (Covers.com)

Coppa Italia prediction, odds, and betting tips for Juventus vs Lazio on February 2. Coppa Italia free pick and game analysis.

The last five meetings between the two have seen at least three goals scored in each, with four goals being hit in three of those. Lazio have been involved in much more low-scoring affairs, with six of their last 10 seeing two or fewer scored. That said, there is solid value in both the draw and the Lazio moneyline given Juventus’ struggles of late. This is the eighth time these two have faced each other in the Coppa Italia, and Lazio has a 3-2-2 edge over the Old Lady. Ten of their 15 matches at home this season have been high-scoring as well, with three or more goals scored. Just one win in their last four has been paired with a 2-0 defeat at Monza and a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Napoli. However, they’ve gone winless in their last two, including a shocking 2-0 defeat to Monza last weekend. Juventus fans haven’t been shy about booing their own players this season when they haven’t performed as expected, meaning this could be a less-imposing atmosphere than Lazio has been used to. A 1-1 draw with Fiorentina over the weekend was a disappointing result – ending a three-match winning streak – but they’ve lost just six times in all competitions this season, and haven’t lost in five straight. Their last match before the World Cup break was a trip to Turin, as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Juventus. The return of forward Federico Chiesa has been a welcome one, and his goal against Monza helped put them through 2-1 in the Round of 16. The 15-point deduction levied upon them saw them drop like a rock, and they’ve been struggling since, as they now sit 30 points behind leading Napoli in the Serie A table.

Juventus vs Lazio : Lineups and LIVE updates (Goal.com)

Juventus will hope to bounce back from their 5-1 loss to Napoli when they face Monza in Coppa Italia.

While some of the major giants continue to sink around them, Lazio look to be capitalising. Allegri's men were unable to capitalise on a decent start and collapsed when the visitors seized an early lead. Any feeble hopes of a revival have been dented by their poor recent form, having won just once in their last four games across all competitions.
