BENTONG: Some 300 residents have been evacuated from Kampung Bukit Tinggi in fear of a landslide following a heavy downpour.

"I am worried that if the rain gets heavier again, a landslide may be triggered so I have advised the people to move out as a safety precaution," she said in a telephone interview, adding the rain has got smaller as at 10pm press time. "We cannot do anything now because it is late and dark and the rain has not stopped. "About 30 minutes later, the water-level began to rise as rainwater, mixed with rocks and boulders, gushed down from the hill," she added.
