Set darkness levels, randomize or add a final touch to a cloud’s exterior with a new contrails setting for more nuanced stills. The clipper can also be animated to achieve complex effects without time-intensive Boolean operators. Designers can now easily add anything to curved surfaces, from stickers and labels to surface imperfections. With more control, artists and designers can keep meeting a level of 3D demand that shows no signs of slowing down. All V-Ray Bitmaps that load when a scene opens will also be optimized for performance. For product visualizations and surfaces, update 1 brings cylindrical and bump upgrades to V-Ray Decal. New masking support for Lens Effects and Denoiser layers gives 3D artists even more say over how their images come together.
Listening to Jean Dawson's music feels like the post-genre future we were promised at the outset of the 21st century. Sure, genres like rock and hip hop ...
His latest album, CHAOS NOW*, continues an exploration of popular music that is exciting and surprising. His influences are as wide as you might expect from someone in Gen Z: Sure, genres like rock and hip hop have played together in the past, as far back as the '80s, but Dawson's embrace of so many different sounds, styles and ideas feel truly organic.
Nigeria's government stands accused of causing economic chaos with a botched plan to tackle the country's vast informal economy. The idea was to bring cash ...
It largely failed to reduce the amount of cash circulating outside the banking system or discourage corruption. However, three state governors from Buhari’s own party said their regions were “on the verge of anarchy” and went to court to try to force the federal government to suspend the cash swap plan. Just 35% of women and 47% of men have a bank account, according to the country’s statistics agency. That move led to cash shortages, long lines at banks and post offices and a slowdown in economic activity as farmers trekked for miles to exchange their old banknotes. He said the country’s digital payment systems would ultimately be able to handle the surge in electronic transactions. The central bank suspended charges on cash deposits at banks and directed lenders to open their branches on Saturdays to encourage people to turn in their old notes. He accused some politicians of mopping up the new notes and storing them “for political purposes” and said some Nigerians were hoarding the redesigned bills, causing long queues at ATMs. As the cash crisis spread, he blamed the “selfishness and greed” of the country’s banks and called for more time to resolve the crisis. Recalling 2.7 trillion naira using the country’s under-developed banking network was always going to be a challenge when it wasn’t clear how much old cash citizens were likely to turn in, and where. Nigeria has just 4.5 bank branches for every 100,000 people, one of the lowest ratios in the world. The idea was to bring cash circulating under the radar into the regular banking system by compelling citizens to swap their old money for newly designed naira bills. Announcing the currency move in October, bank Governor Godwin Emefiele said it would help to rein in runaway inflation.
But amid a shortage of the new currency, Nigerian banks are enforcing daily maximum withdrawal limits of between 5,000 and 20,000 naira (about $6.50 to $27 ...

In January, I spoke at The CUBE's Supercloud 2 event, which focused on the challenges and opportunities involved with cloud adoption, as well as what's on ...
[Cross-Cloud Services](https://www.vmware.com/cross-cloud-services.html) — as a means of simplifying the complexity that arises as organizations move to a multi-cloud architecture. This is the “nirvana state,” in which the organization builds and maintains a single set of services — for applications, infrastructure, security, end-user services, and data-plane services — and implements them across all the various clouds they leverage. As I’ve illustrated in the diagram below, what typically happens is that the organizations end up replicating and applying the technology stacks they’ve built to various clouds, on-premises datacenters, and edge, usually in a siloed fashion. My goal is to explain (and hopefully, help you avoid) some of the typical missteps that I see businesses make as they begin to leverage the true value of a multi-cloud architecture. This usually takes the form of selecting a single cloud that the organization intends to standardize upon. I sat down with The CUBE’s Dave Vellante and John Furrier, co-founders and co-CEOs of SiliconANGLE Media, for a conversation about the typical journey organizations embark upon as they adopt and integrate cloud technology into their infrastructure, applications, and services delivery.
