November 2020: The Jana Wibawa programme was introduced by the government during Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's tenure as the Prime Minister.

He was accused to have solicited a bribe from the managing director of MIE Infrastructure and Energy Sdn Bhd, Mat Jusoh Mamat. He was accused of receiving RM2 million from one Lian Tan Chuan as an incentive to help Nepturis Sdn. The programme acted as a Covid-19 stimulus initiative to help Bumiputera contractors.

It was reported that the MACC investigations centred on RM92.bil from the RM600bil government economic aid package of which Jana Wibawa was part of. The Jana Wibawa programme was approved for implementation by the Cabinet in November 2020, and it is aimed at assisting bumiputra contractors to weather the economic hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic. In a statement on Friday (March 10), the MACC said the investigations carried out against several individuals were based on information and evidence obtained by the commission itself.
