The MRT Putrajaya line has officially launched its Phase 2, opening up the entire line to the public with a total of 36 stations.

The line connects with the Kelaja Jaya Line via Ampang Park, but you’ll have to tap out and walk as it is not an interchange station. It is connected to the MRT Kajang line at its starting point as well as Tun Razak Exhange, along with interchange stations to other lines at Sungai Buloh, Sri Damansara Timur, Kampung Batu, Titiwangsa, Chan Sow Lin, Sungai Besi, and Putrajaya Sentral. Moreover, 17 of the Putrajaya line’s stations are equipped with a total of 5,870 parking spots for those who wish to park and ride.

The line also features 17 Park and Ride facilities at seven stations along the line, which are the Kwasa Damansara MRT Station, Sungai Buloh MRT Station, Sri Damansara Barat MRT Station, Sri Damansara Sentral MRT station, Sri Damansara Timur MRT station, Metro Prima MRT Station and Jinjang MRT Station. The new line comprises 36 stations from Kwasa Damansara MRT station until the Putrajaya Sentral MRT station. Additionally, feeder buses to the stations along the line will also be free during the period.

The MRT Putrajaya line will be opened today (March 16) at 3pm, after many delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The opening of Phase 2 brings into operation an additional 40.2km of line extending from Kampung Batu to Putrajaya Sentral station, as well as completing the full 57.7km length of the MRT Putrajaya Line, which has been built at a total cost of Ringgits 30.53bn ($US 6.78bn). As for those of you who want to use the MRT Putrajaya line via a token, you’ll simply need to head over to any LRT, MRT, Monorail or BRT counter at the station and ask for a token for a free ride; this is again with the condition that you either enter or exit at one of the stops on the MRT Putrajaya line.
