For all of the Swifties living outside of the North Western hemisphere, the build-up to The Eras Tour has been bittersweet. We’re all gagging to see what Taylor will perform, what she’ll wear, and how she’ll set the stage up. It makes sense to invite a couple out at each city stop to perform a half-time Taylor Swift lip sync battle, right? The Eras Tour is upon us. Except, perhaps, an arena full of people. Taylor Swift fans think her romantic All the Girls You Loved Before ... (PopBuzz)

'All the Girls You Loved Before' is a previously unreleased song that Taylor Swift recorded for Lover. Listen to this article. Loading audio.

Taylor also calls back to the lyric, "We met a few weeks ago / Now you try on callin' me "baby" like tryin' on clothes', on Reputation's 'King of My Heart' which is also about Joe. Check out the full lyrics below. Given that the song was recorded for Lover, which features multiple Joe songs, it seems safe to assume that 'All Of The Girls You Loved Before' is about Joe. Now, Taylor has dropped 'All Of The Girls You Loved Before' as a gift for fans ahead of her The Eras Tour. In the pre-chorus, Taylor sings: "Your past and mine are parallel lines / Stars all aligned and they intertwined." Taylor Swift eras deathmatch! Making the case for the superstar's ... (The Guardian)

As the pop juggernaut launches her Eras tour to celebrate her 10 records, our writers present the argument for each one.

Joe Stone [Midnights (2022)](https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/oct/21/taylor-swift-midnights-review-small-hours-pop-rich-with-self-loathing-and-stereotype-smashing) It’s an album that doesn’t need to adhere to modern pop’s rules and standards because the material on it demonstrates Swift is miles ahead of her peers: a confident, mature victory lap. suddenly speeds up and stops rhyming – and songs that deal in experimentation, not least the warping of her voice until it sounds male on Midnight Rain. Laura Snapes [Lover (2019)](https://www.theguardian.com/music/2019/aug/23/taylor-swift-lover-review) It didn’t hurt that Swift’s most introspective albums arrived during a time of great turmoil for me personally (yes, I am referring to the pandemic). (The big tantrum energy, at least on Reputation’s first half, feels pretty reasonable now when you think about what she was subjected to in the media.) It also generated her most fun live show, taking Kim Kardashian’s “snake” barb and blowing it up into a gigantic inflatable serpent called Karyn that loomed from the back of the stage. Owen Myers [1989 (2014)](https://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/oct/24/taylor-swift-1989-review) Made following Swift’s annus horribilis (backlash against her surface-y feminism and accusations that she was some sort of Trumpian accessory; her beef with Kim and Kanye pushed to boiling point) Reputation was a comic heel-turn that refigured Swift’s embattled persona as a panto villain. But I didn’t know it at 15!” (And OK, elsewhere there is more than a little misogyny in this album – but it is the catchy kind!) While such grand musical vaults and gimlet-eyed determination to conquer the charts resulted in Swift dialling down some of the diaristic specificity found on Red, it also made for huge, all-encompassing choruses: the impeccable Italo disco of Style (one of her best songs), the swooning heartbeats of Wildest Dreams or the euphoric chorus of New Romantics. Press play and you’re immediately transported back to high (OK, secondary) school, back to – as Swift herself puts it – “the bliss and devastation of youth”. But in 2006, it was cohorts of middle-aged men who were writing the songs that represented the adolescent experience – the High School Musical soundtrack was the best-selling album of that year.

Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie and Paul McCartney are the only songwriters with six Grammy nominations for song of the year. Check their nods out here.

USA for Africa’s “We Are the World” topped the chart for four weeks. “Ebony and Ivory,” a glossy plea for brotherhood and understanding across racial lines, topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks. “All Night Long (All Night),” the lead single from Can’t Slow Down, logged four weeks at No. “Let It Be,” from the documentary film of the same name, spent two weeks on top. “Hello,” the third single from Can’t Slow Down, spent two weeks on top. “Cardigan,” the lead single from Folklore, spent one week on top. Notes: “Lover,” the third single from Swift’s album of the same name, reached No. Notes: “Blank Space,” the second single from 1989, topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks, making it Swift’s longest-running No. (Four weeks for the Swift and Beatles hits; six weeks for Kenny Rogers’ recording of “Lady.”) Rogers’ smash was the lead single from his perfectly-timed, Billboard 200-topping Kenny Rogers’ Greatest Hits. “Shake It Off” was the lead single from 1989. The Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night,” from the soundtrack to their film of the same name, topped the Hot 100 for two weeks – and was the first rock song to receive a song of the year nod. McCartney and [John Lennon](https://www.billboard.com/artist/john-lennon/) were credited as co-writers of all five nominated songs that were recorded by [The Beatles](https://www.billboard.com/artist/the-beatles/).

Taylor Swift's 'Lover' Outtake, and 8 More New Songs (The New York Times)

Hear songs from Alison Goldfrapp, 100 gecs, Luke Combs and others.

[Luke Combs](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/15/arts/music/luke-combs-growing-up.html) perfects the humblebrag in “5 Leaf Clover.” It’s a sturdy waltz that exults in a good life: hometown, partner, friends, a truck in the driveway, healthy parents and “a fridge full of cold beer,” not to mention a tail-wagging dog. Alynda Segarra of Hurray for the Riff Raff harmonizes with Rose on the chorus, on which the pair dispense some bittersweet wisdom: “You know there’s no place safe to run/Angels surround everyone.” ZOLADZ [100 gecs](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/28/arts/music/100-gecs-10000-gecs.html), opens with a pretty hilarious sonic joke: a sample of the nostalgic and evocative THX Deep Note, as if to say, 100 gecs: Now in Glistening Hi-Fi. [10th studio album](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/21/arts/music/taylor-swift-midnights.html?action=click&pgtype=Article&state=default&module=styln-taylor-swift&variant=show®ion=MAIN_CONTENT_1&block=storyline_top_links_recirc), is a return to the pop pipeline, with production from her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. “The Horse Has a Voice” features Herbert playing a flute made from a thigh bone, the orchestra and the tuba player Theon Cross. [Willie Nelson-Julio Iglesias](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVq0ONrSH-Q) hit — have just “made you the one I’ve fallen for.” The previously unreleased track from her “Lover” era is one of four songs, the rest re-recordings, Swift put out on Friday ahead of the start of her [Eras Tour](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/16/arts/music/taylor-swift-eras-tour-tickets-fans.html). “Thing or 2” drifts in and out of formlessness. “Don’t know why, don’t know why, don’t know why we love this way,” she sings, before deciding the best course is not to ask too many questions but simply lose herself in the rapture of the groove. On May 12, Alison Goldfrapp — the longtime voice of the beloved electro-pop duo Goldfrapp — will release her first solo album, “The Love Invention.” Its debut single, “So Hard So Hot,” is a blissed-out dance floor reverie, as shimmery synths and Goldfrapp’s breathy vocals drift over a thumping beat. Swift officially put out the unreleased track after it was leaked and went viral on TikTok.

Similarly, in the pre-chorus to “All of the Girls”, Swift sings: “Your past and mine are parallel lines/ Stars all aligned and they intertwine.” This somewhat echoes her Midnights song “Mastermind”, on which she sings: “Once upon a time/ The planets and the fates and/ all the stars aligned.” But most of the attention is on “All of the Girls You Loved Before”, a track that was initially recorded for 2019’s Lover. Three of the four titles to have been released come from the singer’s re-recorded projects, meaning you can now happily listen to “Eyes Open”, “Safe and Sound”, and “If This Was A Movie” on Spotify in the knowledge that you’re not contributing to Scooter Braun’s bank account.
