MU and Leading Charities Launch Mental Health Month for Early ... (The Musicians' Union)

Hosted along with BAPAM, Tonic Rider and YCAT, the month-long campaign offers events and resources for early career musicians.

“The UK cost of living crisis is a major concern for us all, and the effect it has on our members’ mental health is just one of the areas it impacts. More recently, union members have been concerned about the cost of living crisis and its impact on mental health. Many of the health problems BAPAM help with in our free clinics are preventable, so getting access to the best, evidence informed information is key. Phoebe Butler from BAPAM details how their organisation can help, she says: “We’re committed to sharing knowledge about healthy and sustainable music practice. "I also hear from our partners at MU Health Care about staffing shortages throughout the health care industry, particularly the need for more nurses and especially nurse assistants, so we want to support this pipeline of students to help bridge the gap and serve both populations." "Investments in initiatives like this are critical from a workforce development standpoint, and MU may serve as a model for other universities wishing to create similar pipelines to support hospitals and nursing homes with staffing shortages."
