Economy Minister appeals for non-Malays to update their data on PADU to prevent exclusion from benefits.
Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli is urging non-Malays to register on the Central Database Hub (PADU) to avoid exclusion from government aid and benefits. As of March 17, over 5.43 million individuals have updated their data on PADU, with concerns raised about low registration rates in areas like Seputeh, Segambut, and Bukit Bintang. Despite the looming March 31 deadline for data updates, only 17% of Malaysians have registered on PADU since its launch in January.
Rafizi is troubled by the fact that around 4752 areas in Malaysia still have individuals not registered on PADU, risking them being left out of government assistance programs. Despite efforts to encourage registration, the take-up among Klang Valley residents remains low and a cause for concern. The government remains firm on keeping the March 31 deadline unchanged for updating data on PADU.
Interestingly, the Central Database Hub (PADU) has become a central platform for citizen data management with significant participation but still falls short of the desired registration numbers. Rafizi's persistent appeals highlight the importance of inclusion and data updating in ensuring fair distribution of aid and subsidies.
