The Penampang district and Kota Kinabalu were plunged into chaos as heavy rainfall led to widespread floods and power cuts. Low-lying areas bore the brunt of the downpour, causing massive disruptions in daily life. Penampang MP, Datuk Ewon Benedick, stepped up by donating RM30,000 for 300 additional food baskets to help affected villagers cope with the aftermath of the floods.

Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd faced challenges as electrical feeder lines were forced to close due to the floods, impacting areas like the Moyog water treatment plant and Lok Kawi. Sadly, one casualty was reported in Penampang, with 114 individuals displaced as the community struggles to recover from the natural disaster.

Despite the grim situation, acts of heroism emerged. Superintendent Sammy Newton, Penampang district police chief, rescued an elderly woman trapped in a vehicle marooned during the floods. A temporary relief center was set up in Penampang to aid those affected, offering shelter and support in the wake of the disaster.
